Covid-19 and its Impact on the Global Tourism Industry

Abstract
The pandemic has had a huge impact on the global travel and tourism industry. The technical transition that got us together by making it convenient and inexpensive for foreign travel, a revolution that fueled countless journeys, is powerless to avoid a virus that needs not travelling but staying at home. At the beginning of 2020, the global travel and tourism market was expected to be worth $700 billion, and thanks to the Corona virus Pandemic, it is currently projected to be $447 billion. Approximately 96% of worldwide destinations have reduced travel in reaction to a pandemic, according to a report. A worldwide loss of 75 million jobs and $2.1 trillion in income is estimated by the World Travel and Tourism Board, the trade organisation representing large global businesses. With increasing constraints and lockdowns, regular losses are increasing. The loss is enormous with the news of the suspensions of thousands of workers in the airlines, hotel industry, catering industries, travel service firms, tour guides of various agencies, adding intense anxiety to millions of families around the world.The current paper examines the impact of covid 19 on the global tourism industry and tries to find out measures and strategies to overcome the challenges posed by it. It tries to find out the travel intention of the respondents in wake of the pandemic
